Market leading global auction house Gooding & Company will once again be conducting a sale at Hampton Court Palace for the 11th anniversary show of the Concours of Elegance in 2023, connecting the UK and European markets with the company’s global clientele. Following a series of highly successful auctions in the UK, including the record-setting Passion of a Lifetime sale in 2020, Geared Online auctions in 2021, and the inaugural London Auction in 2022, Gooding & Company is delighted to continue its relationship with the Concours of Elegance. This year, the company will return to the beautiful grounds of Hampton Court Palace to present an exclusive live auction event on Friday, 1 September 2023.

As with all Gooding & Company auctions, the sale will have online bidding capabilities, allowing those around the world to partake in the action.

Hampton Court Palace, Base Court and Clock Court

Viewing of all lots available for auction will take place at Base Court and Clock Court at Hampton Court Palace. Ticketed entry to the viewing is available to the public at the Palace ticket office at the West entrance and can also be purchased in advance at the Palace website.

Hampton Court Palace, The Great Fountain Garden

The auction will take place within the Concours of Elegance event, hosted within The Great Fountain Garden at Hampton Court Palace. Guests wishing to bid or view the auction in-person will need to secure ticketed entry to the Concours for themselves and any guests at the Concours ticketing website. A ticket for the Concours on 1 September will also include access to view the auction lots in Base Court and Clock Court.

Bidder Registration

To ease the registration process, we encourage all bidders who plan to attend the auction to pre-register online with their preferred bidding method in advance of the auction.
Please note: Bidders must separately obtain admission to the Concours of Elegance for Friday, 30th August by visiting concoursofelegance.co.uk/tickets/.

In-Person Bidding
Includes a catalogue, with two reserved auction seats (subject to availability). Please register in advance on our website: goodingco.com/register.

Our on-site Bidder Registration desk can assist you in-person at Hampton Court Palace. You can complete any paperwork there and retrieve your auction credentials at the following locations and times:

Thursday, 29 August — 10.00 - 17.00 BST (Desk in Base Court, Hampton Court Palace)

Online Bidding
Registration must be completed online at goodingco.com/register, or via our mobile apps available on iOS or Android.

Telephone & Absentee Bidding
Registration for both methods is available through our website and must be submitted at least 24 hours prior to the sale. Please register on our website, and the forms are also available for download to submit via e-mail or fax.

Important Notices

Please read the Conditions of Sale for the full terms and conditions of sale. Each capitalized term used but not defined below will have the meaning assigned in the Conditions of Sale.

REGISTERING TO BID

Prospective bidders may submit a written Bidder Registration Application or Telephone and Absentee Bidder Registration Application (1) by mail, (2) by email to bidders@goodingco.com, (3) by fax to 310.526.6594, (4) on-site at a Gooding & Company (“Gooding”) auction event, or (5) through online bidder registration available at bid.goodingco.com or through Gooding’s mobile apps for iOS and Android. After submitting your application, a Gooding representative will contact you to finalise your registration.

Prospective bidders will be required to complete and execute the applicable registration application forms, provide identification (Driver’s Licence or Passport for individuals and corporate documentation for companies), and provide an original Bank Letter of Guarantee or other form of proof of ability to pay for purchases, in either case, in an amount and in a form acceptable to Gooding in its sole discretion (the “Guarantee”).

Prospective bidders authorise the release of financial information to Gooding for the purposes of verifying ability to pay for purchases.

Please ensure that Gooding receives your completed bidder registration form and Guarantee no later than 24 hours before the start of the Auction session in which you wish to bid.

INSPECTION OF LOTS

As explained more fully in the Conditions of Sale, bidders are provided an opportunity to inspect all Lots prior to bidding and are invited and strongly encouraged to conduct, and must solely rely upon, their own independent inspection and examination of any Lot and all matters relating thereto before placing any bid. For assistance in inspecting any Lot - including assistance in moving any Lot or in raising any Vehicle to conduct an underside inspection - please contact concierge@goodingco.com.

BIDDING IN THE ROOM

While prospective bidders may register to bid in the room prior to the Auction and during viewing hours, it is recommended that registration be completed prior to arriving at the Auction site.

For bidders whose registrations have been completed and accepted by Gooding, bidder paddles will be available for collection at the Registration Desk at the front of the Auction venue during viewing hours and the Auction.

Each bidder is personally responsible for any use of the paddle provided to such respective bidder for purposes of identification, and each bidder agrees that it is personally liable for the full Purchase Price (as defined in the Conditions of Sale) if the paddle is used in bidding on any Lot whether by the respective bidder or by any other person. Each bidder, Buyer, attendee or participant by entering the Auction site agrees to comply with all applicable policies and procedures Gooding may communicate from time to time, including without limitation any posted signage pertaining to safety, health or other requirements.

ADDITIONAL FEES

Buyer’s Premium
In addition to the final bid price, the Buyer is required to pay Gooding a percentage of the final bid price, the Buyer’s Premium, plus Value Added Tax (“VAT”) on the Buyer’s Premium. This Auction will have the following Buyer’s Premium:

• For Vehicle Lots: Gooding will receive a Buyer’s Premium of 12.5% of the final bid price (plus VAT on the Buyer’s Premium).
• For Automobilia Lots: Gooding will receive a Buyer’s Premium of 25% of the final bid price (plus VAT on the Buyer’s Premium).

The VAT on the Buyer’s Premium will not be shown separately on any invoice but will be combined with the Buyer’s Premium.

Taxes and Licence Fees
The amount of all applicable sales and/or use tax, such as but not limited to VAT, and licence fees to be collected by Gooding from the Buyer will be determined by Gooding in its sole discretion and are additional to the final bid price and Buyer’s Premium (as defined in the Conditions of Sale). Exemptions will only be allowed upon receipt of documentation acceptable to Gooding in its sole discretion.

PAYMENT

Payment of the full Purchase Price must be received by Gooding by 5:00 pm BST on Wednesday, 6 September 2023. Payment shall be made by wire transfer only.

COLLECTION, REMOVAL, AND STORAGE

Immediately following the Auction, all Lots will be removed from the Auction site, at Buyer’s risk and expense, and transported to a storage facility (“Storage Facility”). The fee for this removal is £495 (plus VAT) per Lot, and the Storage Facility location will be listed on the invoice that the Buyer receives from Gooding.

All Lots must be removed from the Storage Facility no later than 5:00 pm BST on Friday, 8 September 2023. After that time, the Buyer will be charged £20 (plus VAT) per day, per Lot, for storage. Buyer hereby grants Gooding an irrevocable right to remove and store such Lots at Buyer’s risk and expense. Except in Gooding’s sole discretion, no Lot will be released until Gooding has received payment in full, in good, cleared funds of the Purchase Price. Buyer is solely responsible for making arrangements for the collection and transport of any Lot from the Storage Facility. Please contact clientservices@goodingco.com for assistance.

NO PHOTOGRAPHY

Gooding does not permit any photography, audio, video, or other recording or broadcast of any kind inside any bidding tent without an official Gooding-issued press pass and an executed photography and video agreement, and any photography, audio, video, or other recording captured outside the bidding tent is solely for personal use and shall not be redistributed or rebroadcast in any medium, nor used for any commercial purpose.

The Auction is an international event and, consequently, the Lots offered herein may be registered or titled in various countries and jurisdictions. As set forth more fully in the General Conditions, the Buyer is responsible for determining the relevant taxes and duties payable, as well as any import regulations that may apply, and for examining any and all documentation pertaining to the title or registration provided by the Seller and made available by Gooding prior to the Auction, and for determining whether a Vehicle is or can be registered.

To assist the Buyer in making such determinations, Gooding provides the information herein solely as a helpful reference to the Buyer. It should not be relied upon or substituted for the Buyer’s own due diligence. Neither Gooding nor the Seller is responsible for any errors or omissions regarding information provided herein, as set forth more fully in the General Conditions.

Closest international airport 8 - 11 miles from Hampton Court Palace, offers private jet service from Terminal 4. It is approximately a 30-minute car ride. Major rental car companies are available at LHR.

Gatwick Airport
28 miles from Hampton Court Palace, offering international as well as domestic UK flights and private jet charter service. It is approximately a 40-minute car ride. Major car rental companies are available at Gatwick Airport.

Train
Hampton Court train station is located a five-minute walk from the Palace. National Rail train services run from London Waterloo every 30 minutes.

Parking

Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at the visitor car park at the main entrance to Hampton Court Palace. If that parking lot reaches capacity, then Palace security will direct visitors to park at the train station or at the Hampton Court Green car park.
