The final iteration of Chrysler’s Town and Country was offered as a hardtop coupe, and was now part of the top-of-the-line New Yorker series. This example is one of just 700 built for the 1950 model year, priced at more than $4,000 – one-third more than an Imperial sedan.

Acquired by F.G. “Tim” Burton in 1992, this Town and Country Coupe was treated to a seven-year restoration by Crown Point Classics in Hazelhurst, Wisconsin, with wood finishes restored by Vintage Woodworks of Iola, Wisconsin. Upon completion, it made its debut at the 2001 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance® as part of a featured class of Town and Country wood-bodied Chryslers.

Beautifully finished in Juniper Green with a Tampa Beige top, the green tone is repeated inside in a striking combination of leather and corded fabric. The dashboard houses a full array of gauges, which monitor the smooth, inline eight-cylinder “Spitfire” engine. Other comfort and convenience accessories include a radio, heater, and clock. The generous 131.5" wheelbase makes for a spacious interior compartment, with excellent visibility provided by the “Clearbac” wraparound rear window treatment.

A prime example of the end of the wood-bodied Chryslers, this Town and Country has been well cared-for by a longtime member of the Walter P. Chrysler Club and the National Woodie Club, and would be a welcome addition to most any event.
