A masterful blend of prewar elegance and postwar resilience, the 1955 EMW 327 Sport Cabriolet emerged from the Eisenach factory after WWII, representing a peculiar chapter of production under Soviet management. This EMW 327 is a stunning example of the model, finished in a dark blue and ivory exterior complemented by a brown leather interior.
While the car’s earliest history remains unknown, its documented provenance begins with a Belgian inspection certificate from 1976. From 1986 to 1993, the car benefited from regular maintenance, with records detailing essential work such as brake and suspension service, oil changes, and even window mechanism repairs.
In the early 2000s, the car underwent an extensive rotisserie restoration, bringing it to the exceptional condition you see today. The restoration involved stripping the body down to its core and meticulously refinishing every detail. Notably, the engine was rebuilt, with photographic documentation included in the car’s history file. The restoration of this car was partially documented in a magazine feature, also seen in the accompanying file.
In 2015, the EMW was imported into the US where it has since been displayed as part of a prominent collection of German automobiles. A refined evolution of the original BMW 327, this special EMW features a streamlined design, advanced engineering, and timeless allure.
