Introduced in 1948, the 356 was Porsche’s first production car and received continuous improvements throughout its lifecycle with the revised 356 B arriving for 1960. This 1960 Porsche 356 B Roadster is one of 2,902 manufactured from 1960 to 1962. Finished in Heron Grey over red leather, it was factory-equipped with reclining seats and the more powerful Super 90 engine. Thought to have been a long term West Coast car, this 356 was exported to the UK in 2014. Classic car specialist Thornley Kelham completed a restoration in 2021, including a bare-metal repaint in its original hue, and a new red leather interior. Other components were refurbished or replaced, while the electrical system was converted to 12-volt operation.

Acquired by the consignor in 2021, this Roadster now boasts enhancements by renowned 356 specialist John Willhoit, including his WR 2.2 engine kit with a forged crankshaft, matching rods, larger cylinders, aluminum oil cooler, and Weber carburetors. Developed for consistent power across all rpm ranges, the engine delivers an estimated 160 hp.

This Roadster, with its glass side windows and other creature comforts not seen in the Speedster counterpart, is one of the rarest and most sought-after 356 variants. Restored to high standards and upgraded with John Willhoit mechanical enhancements, this attractive and highly usable 1960 Porsche 356 B Roadster is sure to delight its next custodian.
