Initially developed to meet FIA homologation requirements, the Porsche 911 (930) Turbo quickly evolved into a symbol of performance and innovation. Launched in the mid-1970s, the Turbo was equipped with a powerful, turbocharged six-cylinder engine and featured wide fender flares to fit broader wheels and tires. The iconic whale tail rear spoiler not only became a signature design element but also provided essential downforce to stabilize the car at high speeds.

The 1990 model year saw the debut of the second-generation Turbo. Built on the updated 964-series platform, this version boasted improved aerodynamics and a more cohesive design. Significant enhancements in comfort and safety included the addition of anti-lock brakes, power steering, air bags, and efficient air-conditioning. The suspension system also received an upgrade, with lightweight alloy control arms and coil springs replacing the older torsion-bar setup. While the 964 Turbo originally retained the same lag-prone 3.3-liter engine as its predecessor, an enlarged and more powerful M64 3.6-liter engine was introduced for the 1993 model year. Boasting 355 hp at 5,500 rpm and 384 lbs./ft. of torque at 4,200 rpm, the new engine delivered a smoother and more predictable power delivery throughout the rev range. In a May 1993 issue, Car and Driver lauded the updated Turbo, stating “Point and shoot, point and shoot. Ten minutes of this type of driving in the Turbo 3.6 will have even the staunchest critic of the 911’s drivetrain layout, ancient shape, or primeval switchgear drooling to own one.”

This 1994 Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 is finished in Grand Prix White over a black leather interior. Completed by the factory on May 26, 1993, it was delivered to authorized dealer Lujack’s Northpark Auto Plaza of Davenport, Iowa. Along with the extensive array of standard Turbo features, additional options included 18" polished wheels and an electric sliding sunroof with its original window sticker notating a total MSRP of $102,124. This Turbo is believed to have had a limited number of caretakers since new and was acquired into the current owner’s collection in 2021 where it has been sparingly used. In March 2024, this Turbo received a major service at Porsche of Lincolnwood Illinois, including work to the gearbox, brakes and suspension, along with new tires, totaling nearly $33,000. Showing less than 36,000 miles on its odometer, this Turbo presents in well-preserved condition and is believed by the consignor to retain original paint. It is accompanied by its books, tools, spare, window sticker, Porsche COA, and CARFAX Vehicle History Report.

Only 754 Turbo 3.6 examples were built for the US during the 1993 and 1994 model years, making it one of the rarer variants from the 964 generation. Still more than capable of delivering exhilarating performance today, this Turbo 3.6 is ready for its next fortunate owner to enjoy.
