Introduced in 1994 as the replacement to the highly regarded 190 series, the first-generation C-Class models were internally designated “W202.” The first AMG-developed evolution arrived in 1995, soon followed by the C43, in direct competition with the BMW M3. An outstanding performer with a 4.3-liter V-8 engine delivering 302 hp, the C43 AMG continues to stand as the proverbial “iron fist in a velvet glove.” Other C43 AMG features include aerodynamic lower body components, tuned underpinnings, and 17" Monoblock wheels.
One of just 3,085 sport sedans built from October 1997 to May 2000, this 1999 Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG was ordered by the Mercedes-Benz Stuttgart branch, built in late December 1998, and delivered on February 3, 1999. It is quite possibly the sole example of the C43 finished in Sonderlackierung (special-order) non-metallic Lapis Blue (code 945U). Other highlights include exclusive Graphite/Anthracite AMG (code 581A) leather upholstery and a long list of factory options befitting a high-end Mercedes-Benz AMG performer. A lifelong German home-market vehicle until just recently, this C43 AMG presents in highly original and well-preserved condition, without modifications. Its exceptional provenance is supported by accompanying German ownership history, the Mercedes-Benz factory data card, and AMG Classic Conversion Certificate. Accompanied by the original manuals and folio, an unopened first aid kit, spare tire, roadside jack, tools, and emergency triangle, this factory-ordered C43 deserves the attention of any astute enthusiast.
