In developing the Z8, form and function were flawlessly combined in a design inspired by Henrik Fisker’s 997 Z07 Tokyo concept car that paid homage to the Count Albrecht Goertz-designed 507 of the late 1950s. Featuring BMW’s first aluminum space frame and advanced construction, the Z8 was powered by the 4.9-liter V-8 of the M5, tuned to 394 hp and paired with a six-speed gearbox. Offering ideal 50/50 weight distribution, the Z8 remains electrifying in all disciplines, with 0–60 mph acceleration in 4.2 seconds. Standard amenities included a 12-speaker audio system, six-CD changer, navigation, air-conditioning, and power-adjustable seats. Just 5,703 Z8s and Alpinas were built from 2000 to 2003: 2,543 for the US and 3,160 for Rest of World markets.
Finished in Black over Nappa Black all-leather upholstery, this 2001 BMW Z8 is offered in exemplary, unmodified, and well-preserved condition, retaining its original upholstery, trim, decals, and markings. The desirable BMW Z8 Performance Package includes the front strut-tower brace and coil-over spring cushions. New and correct Bridgestone Potenza tires were installed in November 2024. Showing approximately 3,800 miles when catalogued, the Z8 is offered with CARFAX and AutoCheck Vehicle History Reports, VIN-matched coffee-table book in its slipcase, Motorola cell phone, matching books, navigation CD, tool kit, battery charger, first aid kit, wind deflector, and both soft and hard tops. One of 667 built in Black over Black, this Z8 should appeal to the most discerning BMW devotee.
