A product of Alfa Romeo’s storied legacy and close relationship with Zagato, the TZ3 Stradale debuted in 2010 as a modern homage to the historic TZ (Tubolare Zagato) series of the 1960s, which was distinguished by its tubular frame design and impressive racing legacy. Celebrating Alfa Romeo’s centenary, the TZ3 was limited to just nine units. A true masterstroke of design, it incorporated the aerodynamic elegance of its predecessors while also embracing modern stylistic cues. Led by designer Norihiko Harada, Zagato’s coachwork would include a Kamm tail similar in design to the original model, a large greenhouse with a pillarless effect, full carbon fiber bodywork with sweeping lines, and Alfa Romeo’s signature rounded nose, exuding both sophistication and aggression.

Like the TZ models of the 1960s, the modern TZ3 Stradale was underpinned by a lightweight tubular space frame. This was coupled with an ultra-high-performance power train. Based on the Dodge Viper ACR, the TZ3 Stradale celebrated the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group’s varied offerings with the Viper’s aluminum 8.4-liter V-10 engine, delivering an incredible 640 hp and 560 lbs./ft. of torque. These figures translated into an exhilarating driving experience, thanks to a Tremec six-speed manual gearbox, limited-slip differential, a top speed exceeding 200 mph, and a 0–60 mph sprint in just over three seconds.

Offered directly by Zagato to each potential owner, every TZ3 Stradale was spoken for from the outset at a cost of $1,000,000, donor car included.

Each of the nine cars built began with the purchase of a Dodge Viper ACR, which was then shipped to Italy. Extensively specified by the consignor, this example’s carbon fiber bodywork was finished in stunning dark blue metallic paintwork – the only one to be rendered in this color. On the inside, saddle leather hides line the bucket seats and contrast beautifully with the surrounding black trim. A classic, yet distinguished specification, this TZ3 has since remained in the esteemed collection of its current owner. Used sparingly, it has rarely been seen by the public – with its only concours exhibition being the Arizona Concours d’Elegance in 2016.

With just 1,832 miles at the time of cataloguing, this TZ3 Stradale is accompanied by copies of original purchase documentation, renderings, and photos of its construction, along with paint and leather samples. The powerful V-10 engine, lightweight carbon fiber construction, and heritage-rich Zagato styling combine to create an automobile that truly distinguishes itself from even the most special, low-production modern sports cars. This is a rare opportunity to own an achingly beautiful piece of Zagato history.
