In the world of Lamborghini, no two letters evoke more excitement than “SV.” Standing for super veloce, these letters have graced some of the most desirable cars to emerge from Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, dating back to the Miura in 1971.

At the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini debuted the newest addition to the SV lineage: the Aventador SuperVeloce LP 750-4. Building off the brand’s already exceptionally capable Aventador LP 700-4 coupe, the Aventador SV received more power, reduced weight, and substantially redesigned aerodynamics. With only 600 units slated for production, the SV is also one of the rarest variants from the Aventador’s 11-year run.

The exterior of the SV has been significantly altered to increase downforce while optimizing aerodynamic efficiency. This results in a car with 170% more downforce than the standard Aventador without hampering the top speed. While the large rear wing is the most obvious aid to aerodynamics, the front end has also been sculpted to increase downforce and offers improved cooling.

Powering the Aventador SV is the same 6.5-liter V-12 found in other Aventadors, but further tuned by Lamborghini’s engineers to produce an additional 49 hp, bringing the total to 740 – available just 100 rpm before the car’s 8,500 rpm redline. In independent testing, the Aventador SV achieved 0–60 mph in just 2.6 seconds, and a top speed in excess of 220 mph. Through the extensive use of carbon fiber, Lamborghini was able to shave 110 pounds off the curb weight of the SuperVeloce, giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 1 horsepower for every 2 kg.

This 2017 Lamborghini Aventador SuperVeloce is the only example built in Verde Artemis (Artemis Green), a special color developed by Lamborghini for the 40th Anniversary Murciélago. Originally a Canadian-delivery car, this Aventador is in exceptional condition, showing just 1,000 miles at the time of cataloguing. The unique Verde Artemis paint looks striking on the Aventador SV’s body, and makes for an outstanding contrast with the matte black accents around the car.

The staggered 10-spoke wheels are also finished in matte black and sit in front of the Aventador’s massive carbon ceramic disc brakes, clamped by red-painted calipers. This black and red theme carries into the Ad Personam interior a combination of Nero Cosmus (Black Cosmos) Alcantara with Rosso (Red) stitching and leather accents throughout the cabin.

Production of the Aventador ended in 2022, and its successor, the Revuelto, is Lamborghini’s first venture into the world of plug-in hybrids. The Aventador represents the end of Lamborghini’s pure gasoline V-12 era, and this SV, with its one-of-a-kind specification, is a particularly desirable example.
